Community Safety Introduction (Classroom)

This free two and a half hour workshop aims to introduce you to community safety issues in a practical and interactive way. 

It covers the changing national perspective, will help you understand how community safety is addressed in Derbyshire and gives you chance to think about how your role fits in to the agenda.

This course is open to new staff from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about what community safety is and how to refer in to local services.

Domestic Abuse Awareness (Classroom)

This free half day course is for practitioners who have little or no knowledge about domestic abuse and the services available in Derbyshire.

It will help you identify the different forms of domestic abuse including 'coercive control'. It also explores facts and myths, including leaving abusive relationships.

This course is open to anyone from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about domestic abuse and how to refer in to local services.

Hate Crime Awareness (Classroom)

This free three and a half hour course will provide you with an introduction to some of the critical issues involved in supporting people affected by hate crime. You will look at hate crime nationally and how to respond in Derbyshire.

This course is open to anyone from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about hate crime and how to report it.

MARAC Training (Classroom)

Facilitated by trained Safe Lives Champions, this free six and a half hour course will give you a clearer insight into multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARAC) and how they support victims of the most serious cases of domestic abuse.

This course is suitable for:

  • front line staff and middle managers in agencies who may deal with victims of domestic abuse and their families, for example, police, fire service, children and younger adults, schools, adult social services, health representatives, including GPs, housing and homelessness staff, probation, drug and alcohol workers, voluntary and community groups supporting victims of domestic abuse.
  • all community safety partners and professionals wishing to know more and support the process
  • elected members interested in the domestic abuse agenda.
  • new MARAC representatives
  • learning and development staff who would like to cascade MARAC training within their own agencies

Modern Slavery Awareness Training (Classroom)

This free half day course is for practitioners from any agency, who have little or no knowledge about Modern Slavery and the support available for victims in Derbyshire. The course will help you gain an increased understanding of what modern slavery is, signs to look out for and develop your skills in supporting people who may be victims of modern slavery in Derbyshire.

This course is open to anyone from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about modern slavery and how to report any concerns.

Substance Misuse and Community Safety 


This free half day course will increase knowledge of 'Substance Misuse' and its links to risk, vulnerability and crime and disorder issues within Derbyshire.

It covers what substance misuse is, how it impacts on individuals and communities, signs and indicators to look out for and how to get advice and support.

This course is open to anyone from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about substance misuse in a community safety setting, related impacts and vulnerabilities and how to refer in to local services.

Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP)

This free half-day WRAP workshop is intended for practitioners who have little or no knowledge of the Prevent agenda, who work in communities or work with vulnerable individuals.

This training is specifically aimed at front line staff from the following organisations:

  • Derbyshire County Council
  • district and borough councils
  • elected members
  • early years providers, including nurseries and childminders
  • schools
  • further and higher education establishments
  • pupil referral units
  • police
  • prisons
  • probation and community rehabilitation companies
  • youth offending teams
  • health
  • social care
