This free two and a half hour workshop aims to introduce you to community safety issues in a practical and interactive way. 

It covers the changing national perspective, will help you understand how community safety is addressed in Derbyshire and gives you chance to think about how your role fits in to the agenda.

This course is open to new staff from any agency in Derbyshire wishing to learn more about what community safety is and how to refer in to local services. It would be helpful to complete this course prior to other community safety courses.

Domestic Abuse Awareness (Classroom)

It will help you identify the different forms of domestic abuse including 'coercive control'. It also explores facts and myths, including leaving abusive relationships.

Let's Talk About Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse

Developed and delivered in partnership with SV2 and SAIL, this free half day course will increase your knowledge of sexual violence and abuse, including how to respond to disclosures and concerns within Derbyshire.

Delegates will gain an understanding of what sexual violence is, the scale and scope within the UK and Derbyshire, signs and indicators, barriers to telling someone and what support services are available within Derbyshire.

MARAC Training (Classroom)

Facilitated by trained Safe Lives Champions, this free six and a half hour course will give you a clearer insight into multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARAC) and how they support victims of the most serious cases of domestic abuse.

This course is suitable for:

  • front line staff and middle managers in agencies who may deal with victims of domestic abuse and their families, for example, police, fire service, children and younger adults, schools, adult social services, health representatives, including GPs, housing and homelessness staff, probation, drug and alcohol workers, voluntary and community groups supporting victims of domestic abuse.
  • all community safety partners and professionals wishing to know more and support the process
  • elected members interested in the domestic abuse agenda.
  • new MARAC representatives
  • learning and development staff who would like to cascade MARAC training within their own agencies

Substance Misuse and Community Safety

This free half day course will increase knowledge of 'Substance Misuse' (covering both alcohol and drugs) and its links to risk, vulnerability and crime and disorder issues within Derbyshire.

It covers what substance misuse is, how it impacts on individuals and communities, signs and indicators to look out for and how to get advice and support. 

Please note: This course is not a basic 'drugs or alcohol awareness' course. Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP)

This free half-day WRAP workshop is intended for practitioners who have little or no knowledge of the Prevent agenda, who work in communities or work with vulnerable individuals.

This training is specifically aimed at front line staff from the following organisations:

  • Derbyshire County Council
  • district and borough councils
  • elected members
  • early years providers, including nurseries and childminders
  • schools
  • further and higher education establishments
  • pupil referral units
  • police
  • prisons
  • probation and community rehabilitation companies
  • youth offending teams
  • health
  • social care

It will help you learn more about the Statutory Prevent Duty, understand risk and threat nationally and locally, spot the signs of radicalisation and know how to share your concerns in Derbyshire.
